Country music legend Bill Anderson was forced to withdraw from a scheduled Grand Ole Opry performance on Saturday after suffering what he described as a “freak accident” that left him unable to walk.

The 87-year-old singer and songwriter, affectionately known as “Whispering Bill,” explained the situation in a message shared on his official website two days later.
