U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) says strong earthquake registering magnitude 6.0 shakes the northern region of Thailand, south of Mae Lao district, close to the frontier with Burma (officially know as Myanmar).

“An earthquake with magnitude 6.0 occurred near Chiang Rai, Thailand at 11:08:43.80 UTC on May 5, 2014,” USGS informed.
