MATAMORAS, Pa.—The Matamoras Keystone Club held its annual Ducks Down the Delaware event on Aug. 1, a sunny, clear Saturday morning. Rubber duckys were cast off from the boat launch area in Port Jervis and floated down the river just past the bridge where they are retrieved by the water ops vessel of the Matamoras Fire Department. The top six winners received prizes.

Co-chairs Helen Gassmann and Jane Drake, president and treasurer, respectively, of the Matamoras Keystone Community Club, said the event benefits the planting of trees down the borough’s main avenue. “When we had our centennial, we decided to do it and keep it up ever since,” Gassmann said.

Matamoras Mayor Janet Clare stopped by to watch the race from the bridge. “It’s a wonderful thing on a Saturday morning to come up and watch a race right here on the Delaware.”
