According to the Montgomery County Police Department: At around 4:40 p.m on May 5, 62-year-old Eulalio Tordil, of Adelphi, followed his ex-wife, 44-year-old Gladys Tordil, onto High Point High School grounds in Beltsville, Maryland.

After a brief altercation with her, a man tried to intervene and break it up; the husband shot both his ex-wife and the passerby trying to help. The wife died.

The shooter then fled in a grey Hyundai Elantra with Pennsylvania plate: JZA-0123.

Prince George’s County police said the man has made suicide threats, and is still at large.

Police said his ex-wife had come to pick up her children who attended the school.

UPDATE 12:41 p.m.: Montgomery County Police Department Assistant Chief McSwain said during a press conference: “There aren’t too many details to be released as the matter is still under preliminary investigation.”

McSwain confirmed that a confrontation in the mall parking lot led to the shooting; two people who responded to the shooting were in-turn shot as well, for a total of three victims at the first location, the Montgomery Westfield Mall.
