Oakland Raiders head coach Dennis Allen has been fired, according to breaking news reports on Monday night.

Allen was 8-28 over three season with the team.

Team management called Davis and told him that he’s fired, reported Jay Glazer of Fox Sports.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network confirmed the news.

“The #Raiders have some choices on an interim coach. Assumption is Tony Sparano. But Al Saunders also a consideration,” he added.

Adam Schefter of ESPN noted that Allen’s former teams, the New Orleans Saints and Denver Broncos, would likely welcome him back in some capacity.

The firing, if true, comes about 24 hours after an Associated Press reporter said that Allen was fired, before deleting tweets that cited a source.

Turns out his information appears true, just a day early.

An Associated Press source confirmed the firing on Monday night.
