Police released dashcam footage showing a chase after a drunk driver, hitting speeds of up to 139 mph.

Rimell Taylor, 38, was driving down A47 in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom, when he failed to stop for police at about 1:35 a.m.

He was pursued by officers for 12 minutes as he tried to avoid capture on Sept. 19, 2016.

The dashcam footage shows him driving the wrong way round a roundabout, ploughing down the middle of a road, and overtaking another driver on a corner.

Taylor eventually screeched to a halt in his grey BMW after police deployed a stinger. He was arrested at the scene on Kirkham’s Lane in Wisbech.

He denied charges of dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified, driving without insurance, and drunk driving.

But he was found guilty by a jury at Cambridge Crown Court and sentenced on March 19, Cambridgeshire Constabulary stated in a release.

Taylor, of Guyhirn, Cambridgeshire, was jailed for 21 months and disqualified from driving for three years and 10 months.

He will need to take an extended retest before he is allowed back on the roads.

“The fact that Taylor has received a lengthy custodial sentence for offences that didn’t result in injury or death demonstrate just how serious the courts take driving in this manner on our county’s roads,” said Police Constable Ian Swales from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit.

SWNS contributed to this report.
