Dajuan Russell has been identified as the suspect in the Salisbury High School shooting in North Carolina on Monday, while the vicitm has been identified as Shaleek Williams.

Arrest warrants have been issued for Russell, who is 17, reported WBTV.

Williams, 16, was a junior varsity basketball player.

The shooting happened while Williams was trying to break up a fight between two people, sources told the broadcaster.

A group of young men from “out of town” approached the school, after it had let out for the day, went inside the gym and got into an argument with students inside.

Williams was in the middle of trying to break up the fight when he was punched in the face and shot in the stomach.

Other suspects, who have not been named, are also being sought in the attack.

Williams is in an area hospital recovering from the wound.
