A California man had to call the police on himself after he managed to get stuck in a chimney during a burglary attempt on Wednesday, Dec. 13.
Jesse Berbue, 32, was reportedly trying to rob a business located at the 900 block of Greenback Lane, Citrus Heights, thinking he could slip in through the chimney.
But it didn’t go as planned for the suspect after he found himself stuck, police said.
“CHPD officers, along with the Sacramento Metro Fire Department, arrived on scene and located Berube inside of the chimney,” the department said in a press release. “Berube slid down the chimney in an attempt to gain entry into the business; however, Berube was unsuccessful and became lodged, and unable to exit the chimney.”
Sacremento Fire Department responders arrived at the scene and were able to get the suspect out by using special equipment.
A photo provided by police seems to show Berube stuck a few meters down the chimney shaft.
Authorities referred to Berbue as a “criminal Santa” who “does not have the same skills as the real deal, Fox News reported.
The suspect was removed safely with no injuries. He faces one count of burglary according to police.
It’s not clear how long he was in prison for.
