Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus visited El Mariachi restaurant in Newburgh on March 20 as part of his “Open for Business” initiative. The eatery features an array of Latin American dishes and opened three months ago.
Martha Mora operates the full-service restaurant with her four daughters—Fatima, Maria, Ashley, and Taisz. Mora also works full-time as a housekeeper at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern. Her shift at Good Samaritan usually starts at 7 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. From there, Mora heads to the restaurant to work every day.
“Martha’s hard work and dedication are inspirational,” Neuhaus said. “It is clear that she takes pride in everything she does. I enjoyed having an opportunity to meet Martha and her hard-working family. They are really close and I know they will be successful. I’m certainly rooting for them.”
Neuhaus was joined at El Mariachi by Deputy County Executive Wayne Booth, Angel Figueroa, second vice president of Latinos Unidos of the Hudson Valley, and Nolly Climes, a Latinos Unidos volunteer and program director of Rehabilitation Support Services (RSS).
“I am pleased that the County Executive is reaching out to the Latino community with this program,” Figueroa said.
“We appreciate him recognizing all of Martha’s hard work and determination. It means a lot to all of us and we look forward to collaborating with Mr. Neuhaus in the future.”
Neuhaus invites new businesses in Orange County to contact his office to be recognized in the Open for Business program. He will take a picture with the owner(s) and post it on his Facebook page to help promote the business.
Neuhaus unveiled the initiative which highlights new businesses in the community last October. “My family and I were honored to have Mr. Neuhaus visit El Mariachi. Muchas gracias,” Mora said. “He was a gentleman and was very interested in our restaurant, which meant a lot to us.”
The restaurant is located on Broadway in Newburgh and opened on Feb. 27. The restaurant’s Facebook page is in Spanish and displays photos of some menu offerings.
