Conor McGregor Manages a Few Words as He Leaves New York Court

Conor McGregor was silent as he left the Kings County Court in Brooklyn, New York, on Thursday.

The 29-year-old was accompanied by his fellow Straight Blast Gym (SBG) teammate, Cian Cowley. McGregor’s appearance in court was over in less than a minute. He is charged with three counts of misdemeanor assault and one count of felony criminal mischief, while Cowley is being charged with one count of misdemeanor assault and one count of criminal mischief, according to the New York City Police Department.

Judge Raymond Rodriguez set the next court hearing for July 26.

McGregor’s lawyers stated that they are still working on a deal so they could plead guilty in return for a lighter penalty from the prosecution, reported news.com.au.

Shortly before McGregor left in his SUV, he spared a few moments to express his regret. “I regret my actions that led me here today. I understand the seriousness of the matter, and I am hopeful that it gets resolved soon. Thank you.”

McGregor and Cowley gatecrashed a media event a few days before the UFC 223 event in April. McGregor and his entourage entered the building from a side entrance to attack a van that Russian UFC fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov was riding in.

There is footage that shows McGregor throwing a hand truck at the window of the bus. The damage to the glass caused a laceration on UFC fighter Michael Chiesa’s forehead.

The moment that sparked the incident can be traced back to a heated argument at a hotel between McGregor’s close friend and UFC fighter Artem Lobov and Nurmagomedov.

Lobov said that Nurmagomedov wasn’t a real champion because he had already pulled out of fights six times and McGregor has never pulled out of a fight, regardless of his injuries. Nurmagomedov retaliated by slapping Lobov. Not long afterwards, McGregor and his entourage took a plane to Brooklyn to confront Nurmagomedov as he was leaving the hotel in a bus.
