The man who attacked Rupert Murdoch with a shaving cream pie has been sentenced to six weeks of jail time by the city of Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

Jonathan May-Bowles, 26, threw the plate of shaving cream at the News Corporation chairman on July 20 at the parliamentary committee hearing on his media organization’s phone hacking scandal.

The comic who calls himself Jonnie Marbles, sent sardonic Twitter messages to fans on his way to court for the sentencing.

“Sentencing today. I’m sure my punishment will be every bit as fair and proportionate as the one Murdoch received. Oh, hang on...” and “About to go into court. Now would be an excellent time for the entire apparatus of the state to mysteriously crumble.”

May-Bowles’s defense lawyer, Tim Greaves, said his client’s intention was to “express how he was feeling and how he believed the British public was feeling, and he sought to do that in the least harmful way he could,” reported BBC.

May-Bowles said he plans to appeal the ruling.
