The U.S. Coast Guard rescued a stranded kite surfer in Vinoy Park, Tampa Bay, on Aug. 30, officials said.

A bystander saw 42-year-old Jason Chavez in distress and called in a watchstander at around 12:30 p.m.

The watchstander communicated the distress call to the Coast Guards, who arrived within 15 minutes and helped Chavez on to their 45-foot boat.

No injuries were reported.

Chavez got himself into trouble when the weather changed while he was kite surfing.

A sudden change in the weather resulted in the wind dying down, leaving Chavez stranded in the water.
