Ten teams took part in the competition which was played in blisteringly hot conditions sapping the energy out of the players. The final order was Hong Kong, Sri-Lanka, Chinese Taipei (Taiwan), S Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, China, Thailand, Philippines, and Uzbekistan.

China women achieved a similar feat in the Women’s U20 Seven Series played as a round robin competition. The outstanding teams were China, Hong Kong and Thailand. All three won their matches by substantial margins, but in the crunch games, China beat Thailand 24-0 and defeated Hong Kong 41-0. In the 3rd place decider, Thailand outpointed Hong Kong 36-12.  The China team was very impressive throughout the tournament. The Hong Kong women also put up a strong challenge but just fell short against the other two top teams. Thailand attackers had the edge on finishing speed.

The final line-up in the Women’s sevens was China, Thailand, Hong Kong, India, Singapore, Malaysia and Uzbekistan.
