A man in Shandong Province killed a small dog on sale at a market stall, because it bit him after he patted it while it was eating.

A bystander took photos of the incident, and uploaded them to Sina Weibo, where they were widely circulated.

Sohu.com interviewed the stallholder, who was a lady in her 50s. She said that the man had originally wanted to buy a puppy, but thought they were too expensive.

The man came back later, and patted one of the puppies at the stall, but it bit him because it was eating. He then grabbed two of the dogs and hurled one to the ground. His female companion was able to stop him from killing the second dog, according to Sohu.com.

In a separate report by Tencent QQ, the stallholder said that she had been selling dogs for years, and had never encountered such a situation.

Many netizens forwarded the photos of the man online, as they were keen for him to be identified and brought to justice.

However, Jinan police reportedly will not search for him unless the stallholder files a report.
