BEIJING—China reported a new case of African swine fever in Wuxi City in eastern China’s Jiangsu Province on Sept. 3, raising fears that the disease could affect farmers’ livelihoods as the disease spreads rapidly in the world’s top pork producer.

Hours earlier, the agriculture ministry had confirmed a second outbreak of the disease in Xuancheng City in the eastern province of Anhui, which occurred on a small farm of 308 pigs, killing 83 of them.
