ByteDance Denies Wuhan Layoff Rumors as Pressures Mount on China’s Tech Sector

Analysts said the business environment that fueled the kind of growth ByteDance had experienced has shifted.

Unconfirmed reports that Chinese tech giant ByteDance had dissolved its Wuhan research and development center have spread rapidly online in recent days, drawing attention to mounting pressures facing China’s once-booming tech sector.

The company moved quickly to deny the claims, stating on March 14 that only about 50 employees had been relocated due to business adjustments.
