As healthcare systems and hospitals struggle to deal with the novel coronavirus, one Chick-fil-A store in Vancouver, Washington, is leading the way in showing its appreciation by delivering 1,000 free meals to local hospital staff.

On March 14, 2020, the fast-food restaurant’s store in the Cascade Park neighborhood of Vancouver showed some serious love to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center by making chicken sandwiches, braving chilly weather, and dropping them off in person at the hospital.

It was a welcome gesture given how difficult conditions are for overstretched health workers amid the CCP virus outbreak. The Epoch Times refers to the novel coronavirus as the CCP virus because the Chinese Communist Party’s coverup and mismanagement allowed the virus to spread throughout China and create a global pandemic.

PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center appreciated the fast-food restaurant’s service.

“We are so grateful to John Dombroski and his team at Chick-fil-A Cascade Park in Vancouver for delivering and serving 1,000 meals to our hard-working caregivers today,” the hospital posted on their Facebook page. The hospital summed that the store’s “kindness in a tough time is appreciated more than you can know.”

The fast-food franchise is known for its commitment to employees’ well-being, one of the reasons they close on Sundays, as well as the importance it places on giving back to the community.

The Cascade Park location shared photos of assembling and delivering the meals to the hospital cafeteria on Facebook. The team said that they ''were truly honored to partner with PeaceHealth Southwest to serve their fantastic team.”
The post soon racked up over 1,000 likes, and people working at the hospital were quick to express their gratitude. One person directly involved commented, “I am an employee at the shared service center. Thank you [Chick-fil-A] for helping our hard working medical staff. Thank you medical staff.”

Chick-fil-A’s special delivery was especially meaningful given that the Cascade Park restaurant announced the closure of its store dining rooms on March 15. They posted on their Facebook feed that their dining room seating was temporarily closed to “support and care for the health & well-being'‘ of their guests and team members.’’
In keeping with the Center for Disease Control’s recommendations about social distancing and avoiding gatherings of 50 people or more, on March 15, 2020, Governor Jay Inslee issued restrictions on restaurant activities and ordered the temporary shutdown of restaurants, bars, and entertainment and recreational facilities in Washington.

In order to keep the public fed and keep their employees working, they noted that the team is looking forward to serving customers in ‘’the drive-thru, inside for carryout orders only (placed at the front counter or on the Chick-fil-A App), or at curbside delivery via the Chick-fil-A App.”

Besides the Vancouver-based Chick-fil-A stepping up to support beleaguered hospital workers, another Chick-fil-A store in Cicero, New York, has also done its part to make life under the CCP virus containment restrictions a little bit easier. Outside their store, they put a “blessing box,” consisting of non-perishable goods for the pantry.

The store’s management wrote in a Facebook post: “We know that this a difficult and uncertain time for our community. Please take what you need and leave what you can.”

The staff noted that the blessing box will be left outside during store hours and should provide help for people put out of work by the virus.
