A picture of Pablo Escobar allegedly with the cast of “El Chavo del 8” has reignited a firestorm of rumors that the cast performed at a private party for Escobar in Colombia a while ago.
Spanish language media reports that the photo, which is being circulated heavily across social networks and websites, may or may not be legitimate.
The photo purportedly shows Escobar with the characters of the popular program after he came to meet them.
The cast was then reportedly transferred to Escobar’s luxurious residence in Colombia from Mexico City in a private plane paid for by the Medellin Cartel.
However, La Republica reports that the photo was actually doctored and fooled many people who thought that it was real.
“This doctored photo was intended to reinforce one of the accusations against ‘Chespirito,’ who was said to have presented a private show for Manuela Escobar, daughter of drug dealer Pablo,” the media outlet reported.
It said that through analysis it can be seen that Escobar’s face was added into the photo, in addition to the Colombian flag.
Years later the cast reportedly traveled to Colombia again--this time for the Rodriguez Oreguela brothers, the heads of the Cali Cartel, which was a rival to Escobar’s cartel. The brothers hired the cast to perform at a child’s birthday party.
