PARIS—A car plowed into the outdoor terrace of a pizzeria in the small town of Sept-Sorts east of Paris on Monday, killing an 8-year-old girl and injuring several other people, BFM TV reported.

France’s national gendarmerie said they were dealing with an incident in Sept-Sorts and urged the public not to hinder their operation. It gave no further details.

BFM TV said the driver of the vehicle had been arrested. An official from the Seine-et-Marne prefecture declined to comment.

The incident occurred less than a week after an Algerian national was arrested on suspicion of deliberately ramming a hire car into a group of soldiers on a patrol in a Parisian suburb, injuring six of them.
