BOSTON—Four Boston police officers investigating a report of a man with a gun were taken to the hospital after two were dragged and the others struck by a fleeing car.

Police said in a statement that two plainclothes officers approached the vehicle in the city’s Dorchester neighborhood at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. As they tried to speak to the driver, the vehicle sped away, dragging the two officers about 20 feet.

Two uniformed officers providing backup were struck by the fleeing vehicle. One rolled off the hood and struck his head on the ground.

All four were treated and released from the hospital. The officers’ names were not immediately released.

Police are still looking for the vehicle, they describe as a gray or silver Chevrolet Malibu with Connecticut plates AF17904.
