Activision could be choosing Play Station 4 as the lead platform for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 over Microsoft’s Xbox One.

While Activision and Microsoft have an exclusive deal, the PS4 has been pulling away from the Xbox One in sales.

According to Gamepur, an industry insider said: “The PS4 is above and beyond all projections and publishers are re-calibrating to this. I heard that Activision is going to make a public announcement about COD changing to the PS4 as lead platform.”

The Call of Duty: Ghost DLC deal with Microsoft may not be affected.

“I have no idea if this means DLC (I assume MS locked that down for multiple years) but COD was a XBOX 360 game that happened to be on the ps3 last gen,” said the insider. “That will be a hugely symbolic move… and don’t discount what that means to the masses.”

MW4 is being developed by Sledgehammer Games, reportedly under the codename “Black Smith,” and is slated for a November 2014 release.
