Those still hoping for a Zombies mode in the latest Call of Duty are probably going to be disappointed.

When a small “cross tally” marking appeared on the Xbox One controller of the Call of Duty Advanced Warfare special game bundle, CoD fans rejoiced as the marking was used in Zombies, a popular “survive endless Nazi Zombies” horde-style, four-player co-op mode, from past CoD titles.

Although plenty of speculation has been thrown out by Youtube commentators and in forums, developer Sledgehammer Games never officially confirmed or denied the Zombie mode rumors.

The status quo looks set to change, however, in light of the new Advanced Warfare co-op mode trailer.

Called “Exo Survival,” the Advanced Warfare four-player co-op mode sees players taking on wave after wave of enemies.

Some of these enemies appear to have cloaking abilities, and some will come at the players in mech suits.

Based on what is shown in the trailer, it appears that “Exo Survival” resembles Survival Mode in Modern Warfare 3’s Special Ops co-op mode. Survival Mode pits up to two players against waves of A.I. enemies, with a number of special enemies such as Juggernauts thrown in at different intervals.

Of course, Sledgehammer still hasn’t officially denied or affirmed the existence of a Zombie mode, but the “Exo Survival” trailer pretty much quashes all hope that everyone’s favorites Nazi Zombies are making a comeback.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be out for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and the PC on November 4.
