Canadian cyclist Ryder Hesjedal will represent his country at the London Summer Olympics later this month after completing the Tour de France. He will compete in two events, the road race and the time trial, at the Olympic Games to be held from July 27 to Aug. 12.
Hesjedal won the prestigious Giro d’Italia race in May and is the only Canadian competing in the Tour de France.
The Victoria, B.C., native races for the Garmin-Barracuda team. After the fourth stage of the Tour de France on Wednesday, Hesjedal was in ninth place, just 18 seconds behind leader Fabian Cancellara of Switzerland.
