U.S. stocks posted steep losses on April 21.

The blue-chip Dow Jones Industrial Average ended the day down by 971.82 points. The broader S&P 500 Index and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index fell by 2.36 percent and 2.55 percent, respectively.
