As part of a turnaround plan announced in October 2025, Stellantis, the parent company of Ram trucks, said on Jan. 2 that it would reintroduce the Ram TRX eight-cylinder pickup truck beginning in 2026.
Bringing the TRX back was driven by customer demand, said Noah Thanos of Ram’s North America communications team.
“The TRX has had a passionate following since its initial launch in 2021,” Thanos said in a statement provided to The Epoch Times. “The TRX sits at the top of the Ram 1500 off-road lineup.”
“Accelerating growth in the U.S. has been a top priority since my first day,” said Antonio Filosa, a 25-year company veteran who took the helm as CEO of Stellantis in May 2025, in a statement. “Success in America is not just good for Stellantis in the U.S.—it makes us stronger everywhere.”
Stellantis’ North America division is based in Auburn Hills, Michigan, while its global headquarters are in Amsterdam. Stellantis brands include Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Maserati, Opel, and Peugeot. The automaker operates 34 manufacturing, research and development, and distribution facilities in 14 U.S. states.
Stellantis’ Ram TRX truck features a 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 engine with a 2.4-liter twin-screw supercharger capable of generating 680 foot-pounds of torque. It will have an eight-speed transmission and can reach zero to 60 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds, the company said.
The new Ram TRX is the most powerful street-legal gas-powered truck in production, Stellantis said. It’s also the first SRT-badged Ram truck in production since 2006. Additional luxury features include 35-inch tires with nearly 12 inches of ground clearance, hands-free automated driving, 12-way power and massaging front seats, and carbon fiber trim throughout the cabin.
The announcement is a return to roots for Kuniskis, a 30-year company veteran who retired in May of 2024 but returned in December 2024 and was named head of Stellantis’ North and South American brands in the summer of 2025.
In 2014, Kuniskis ushered in the Dodge Hellcat Challenger and Charger models, which at the time were the company’s most powerful muscle cars ever produced. The vehicles’ 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 engine was capable of producing 707 horsepower.
“We’ll continue to offer trucks with unique capabilities at different price points, meeting a variety of customer needs,” Thanos said.
“The TRX is currently the most expensive version of the Ram 1500,” he said. “That said, this new variant delivers a compelling value proposition when looking at the competitive set. Many features that were previously optional—like massaging seats—are now standard equipment, and we’ve added premium details borrowed from our most luxurious truck, the Ram 1500 Tungsten.”
