Hertz Global Holdings on Friday named former Goldman Sachs finance chief Stephen Scherr as its top boss, replacing interim CEO Mark Fields, sending shares of the car rental firm up 4 percent before the bell.

Scherr will assume his new role as CEO and a board member on Feb. 28, Hertz said in a statement, adding that Fields would remain as a director.
