Kylen Holliman, a 3-year-old boy, and his 1-year-old brother survived a fatal car crash in Arkansas on Aug. 20 that killed their 25-year-old mother.

The toddler managed to escape from his car seat and climb through the sunroof of the crashed car. He attempted to wake up his mother who was lying on the ground after being thrown from the car before going up a small hill to find help, KARK reported.
An emergency call was made to the Ouachita County Sheriff Office (OCSD) on the morning of Aug. 20, CNN reported.
A passerby had found Kylen wandering alone on what was a rural road near a highway in Camden.

The toddler was covered in cuts and bruises, and had signs of extreme trauma, said Ouachita County Detective Nathan Greeley.

To help him recover, they gave him food, clothes, and a bath.

After the police posted a photo of the seemingly abandoned toddler on Facebook, a family member contacted them.

They said that his 1-year-old brother might be close-by. They added that they had not seen their mother grocery shopping since Aug. 16.

“We initially thought it might have been two days they were there,” said Greeley, “with new information they could have been there for four days.”

Later that day, the police went back to the road where the 3-year-old toddler was found and asked nearby residents for information.

During the search, they came upon a car lying sideways in a deep ravine, not visible from the highway.

Lisa Nicole Holliman, their mother, was found to be ejected from the vehicle, already deceased, and the 1-year-old toddler was strapped to his seat with no severe injuries.

Greeley said that surviving without food and water was considered a miracle, as the temperatures between Aug. 16 and Aug. 19 ranged between 94 and 98 degrees.

“You know, southern Arkansas with how hot it is, the humidity,” said Greeley, ”...we’ve had precipitation since then, and like I said, it’s nothing short of a miracle—God’s blessing—that these children were able to survive this accident,'' Fox News reported.

Both the mother’s body and the 1-year-old child were sent to hospital.

It was there that the toddlers’ grandfather found out that his daughter Lisa, was four weeks pregnant.

“We just found that out at the hospital that she was pregnant,” said the grandfather. “We didn’t know, we lost two.”

He told KARK that it may be the hardest thing he will go through, and it’s even more difficult knowing she was pregnant.

“I‘ll never get up and see her, I’ll never get to talk to her, laugh with her. My baby’s gone,” he said.

A relative has set up a GoFundMe to raise money for a memorial for the mother.
