BREA, Calif.—Brea Downtown was tasty and vibrant at the annual Taste of Brea festival on the evening of May 26, where residents were given a chance to take a break from their work week and enjoy food and drinks proudly made in Orange County.

Restaurants, small businesses, and community leaders came together to show the heart and rich life of Brea.

Cande Avila, executive director of the Brea Chamber of Commerce, had a great time surrounded by old friends.

“I went home beat,” Avila wrote on Facebook. “But it was worth the time and seeing Brea alive again.”

People started dancing away at the festival as the eight members of the Cold Duck “premiere dance” band created a space of energy for attendees with live music. The band certainly delivered on its philosophy as stated on its website—“Give the people what they want to hear and have a good time delivering it!”

In the coming days, small businesses will be looking forward to seeing a return of the new friends they met at Taste of Brea.

Carbon Canyon Coffee Co. told The Epoch Times they have been seeing a return of people walking in their doors after first seeing them at the event. “It has helped introduce ourselves and our product to the local community unfamiliar with our brand.”

This year the coffee company showcased drinks and pastries along with their Japanese Kyoto-style cold drip extractor. It is a 12-hour process to craft eight cups of cold brew by dripping ice-cold water through freshly ground beans, one drip per second—a “mesmerizingly beautiful” process resulting in “delicate, aromatic brews,” a company representative said.

Besides having their tastebuds satisfied, children were having tons of fun operating robots that can discharge bouncy rubber balls or transport mini traffic cones, thanks to the robotics corner set up by an award-winning robotics team consisting of STEM students from Brea Olinda High School.

After a rejuvenating night with family and friends, residents can continue to support their new favorites before coming back for more local flavors in next year’s foodie extravaganza.
