Boy admits Kutcher prank: A 12-year-old boy admitted to calling police to the home of actor Ashton Kutcher, falsely reporting gunshots on the property. The boy also faces felony charges for making a false bomb threat on a bank days later.
A 12-year-old boy, whose name has not been released because he is a minor, admitted in a Los Angeles court on Monday that he made a false 911 call, claiming gunshots were being fired on actor Ashton Kutcher’s L.A. Home.
Kutcher, known for pulling his own pranks on the television series, “Punk'd,” was not the only focus of the boy’s calls. The boy made similar claims of gunshots on teen pop star Justin Bieber’s home in October 2012, according to Reuters.
Both calls were made in October, as was the boy’s false bomb threat on a Wells Fargo bank location in Los Angeles.
A Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office report states that the minor faces two felony counts—making false bomb threats, and computer intrusion.
The second count is due to his placing the bomb-threat call through a computer.
The prank calls are known as swatting, because a SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) team is called to the scene of a non-existent crime.
