Boxing champion Errol Spence Jr. was ejected from a Ferrari and was seriously injured in an early morning Dallas crash, according to reports. It was also revealed he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.

According to TMZ on Thursday, Spence was taken to a local hospital’s intensive care unit. The news outlet also posted photos of the wrecked Ferrari.

The 29-year-old fighter was driving around Riverfront Blvd. at around 3 a.m. at a high rate of speed when he apparently lost control of the car, police told Fox4. The car flipped several times and hit a pole.

Officers found Spence lying on the street, the report said. Police said he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.

A spokesman for Premier Boxing Champions confirmed the driver was in fact Spence, who currently holds the WBC & IBF welterweight championship belts. He recently defeated Shawn Porter for the welterweight title fight on Sept. 28 in Los Angeles’ Staples Center.

Spence’s injuries were described as serious but non-life-threatening, the report said. His parents are with him at the Methodist Dallas Medical Center.

Porter tweeted about the crash, offering his prayers.

“My dad always tells me ‘this boxing thing is a part of your life but it’s not going to last forever. U still have a lot of life to live after that.’ With that, I’m praying for @ErrolSpenceJr & his family because he has a lot of life to live and I pray he recovers quickly & fully,” Porter tweeted.
Other details about the crash are not clear.
