Laddy, a 7-year-old border collie got stuck up a tree in Davenport, Iowa, on Sunday probably having chased a squirrel up there, said his owner. Laddy was rescued and reunited with his owner, Cynthia Weeks.

The oak tree had a gradually sloping trunk that allowed the dog to run up, but it was too scared to run back down.

On Sunday in San Francisco, Adam Cohen rescued a dog from the water near the Berkeley Pier. He saw some windsurfers huddled together, reports SF Gate, and thought they might be in trouble. The surfers were not in trouble, but had found a dog swimming far out in the water and were communicating with the Coast Guard via radio about it.

“She was way out there,” Cohen explained. ”It looked like she was trying to swim to Angel Island.”

Cohen took the dog, possibly a Labrador-pit bull mix, home. The dog did not have tags and its owner wasn’t found. Cohen told SF Gate he might take the dog to the Humane Society on Tuesday morning, but “My wife says we should keep her.”

On Wednesday last week in Norman, Okla., former Dallas Cowboys coach Barry Switzer rescued a puppy from a hot car. The windows were rolled down, but he felt it wasn’t a healthy situation for the dog and found the owners to buy the dog from them, reports KFOR.

He gave the Rottweiler puppy to a family that lost their home in the Moore tornado.
