At least three men are dead and over a hundred injured after police clashed with striking garment workers in Bangladesh Sunday, according to the Bangladesh Today.

The three died from bullets shot by police trying to disperse protesters in the Chittagong Export Procession Zone (CEPZ).

Protests in the capital Dhaka and the nearby town of Narayanganj left 50 injured in each location, according to Reuters.

The protesting workers blocked roads with burning tires, ransacked stores and banks, and attacked passing vehicles, according to the Bangladesh Today.

Police reported firing over 500 rubber bullets and using 95 rounds of tear gas to quell the violence, according to the report.

The workers were striking over a factory owners’ failure to pay them increased wages mandated by government, which last month raised minimum wage.
