Avengers 2 Age of Ultron Spoilers: Avengers Sequel to Continue From Captain America 2, Says Joss Whedon

Avengers 2 Age of Ultron will continue the storyline from Captain America 2, also known as The Winter Soldier.

The second Captain America saw Steve Rogers/Captain America searching for Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier.

Joss Whedon, director of the Avengers, explained at the recent Comic-Con that Rogers will continue that search in Avengers 2, but the threat of Ultron quickly rises to the top of Captain America’s agenda, prompting him to rejoin the Avengers.

“The fact is, Ultron is a clear and present danger and Bucky’s in the wind. We do mention the fact that that this is sort of a primary thing, but he’s also working with The Avengers too,” Whedon said, according to Cinema Online.

“We’re not ignoring it, but he definitely has to deal with a mad eight foot robot, because that’s one of those things that you put it off and it just gets worse.”

Chris Evans, who plays Captain America, added that the Steve-Bucky storyline will pick up in Captain America 3.

In that installment, Rogers may pass on his title to Bucky or The Falcon, per the comic books.

Avengers 2, starring Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, and Jeremy Renner, among others, is slated to hit theaters on May 1, 2015.
