News that Assassin’s Creed: Comet, the rumored title for Assassin’s Creed V, is slated for Next-Gen consoles is a fake, while a Templar could feature as the protagonist.

According to Kotaku, an email screenshot claiming that Comet will be released for the PS4 and Xbox One is “full of errors,” and is probably a hoax.

The game should be released on PS3 and Xbox 360, while Assassin’s Creed: Unity has been confirmed for Next-Gen platforms.

Also, Comet is a direct sequel to Assassin Creed VI: Black Flag, according to French gaming website GameBlog.

Set in and around 1758, the game will follow the exploits of a Templar and sailor by the name of Shay.

Templars are the traditional enemies of the Assassins, and are typically the main antagonists in the Assassin’s Creed games.

As the AC series progresses, however, the line between the Templar Order and the Assassin Order has some what blurred. Both Orders have been revealed to be neither good nor evil, but merely holding different views of how humans should interact with the world.

Assassins prize freedom of individuals, while Templars cherish control, purpose, and order.

Shay won’t be the first playable Templar character, though, as the opening missions of Assassin’s Creed III play out from the point of view of Templar Grand Master Haytham Kenway.

Haytham and other AC characters are expected to make an appearance in Comet.

Comet should be out fall 2014.
