Sony’s Xperia Z3 could have similar specs to its predecessor.
Evleaks has leaked the stats of the Xperia Z3, and they are rather similar to the Xperia Z2:
Xperia Z3
Display: 5.15-inch 1080p
Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core 2.4Ghz
GPU: Adreno 330
Memory: 3GB RAM
Storage: 16GB
Cameras: 20.7-megapixel rear camera; 2.1-megapixel front camera
OS: Android 4.4.4 KitKat
Xperia Z2
Display: 5.2-inch 1080p
Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core 2.3 GHz
GPU: Adreno 330
Memory: 3GB RAM
Storage: 16GB
Cameras: 20.7-megapixel rear camera; 2.2-megapixel front camera
OS: Android 4.4.4 KitKat (pushing out)
Other than a slightly larger screen, a faster processor, and what seems like a less powerful front camera, the Xperia Z3 hardly differs from the Xperia Z2.
Evleaks also has photos of the supposed Xperia Z3.

Sony is known for releasing one high-end flagship phone every half-yearly instead of annually like most smartphone companies.
One benefit of releasing a new phone every six months is that Sony can stay ahead of the technological curve.
However, if there are no major technological breakthroughs, or if technology doesn’t advance as quickly, than Sony will face the problem of having a “new” smartphone that is not really different from the previous one.
If the evleaks specs are true, than Sony’s plan might backfire.
Currently, the Xperia Z3 and the Xperia Z3 Compact are speculated to be unveiled at the IFA show in Germany, and could be ready for release by the end of September.
