MONTREAL, Canada—In its first Montreal show of 2013, New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts performed a sold-out show on Thursday night. Only 10 seats were left in the Wilfrid-Pelletier Hall, the largest concert hall of the Places des Arts theatre.

Among the charmed audience members was Raymond Déry, founder of DCM Aerospace.

“As far as I’m concerned, this is the best [show] I’ve ever seen,” he said.

A Quebec-based company, DCM Aerospace is a world class subcontractor for such prestigious aircraft manufacturers as Bombardier, Boeing, and Embraer. Mr. Déry founded the company in 1987. He is now retired after working more than 50 years in the aeronautics sector, but not before passing along his passion to his three children.

Mr. Déry enjoyed every aspect of the performance, including the dance and the orchestra. “The music is amazing; it’s truly well adapted to the show.”

The animated backdrop, in which characters in the story-based dance pieces appear to fly onto the stage from the screen and vice versa, especially impressed Mr. Déry: “I would say that it’s the best thing I’ve seen so far,” he said, noting that it reminded him of a movie.

His wife, Isabelle Laverrière, described the show as very graceful. “It’s very beautiful, the colours are beautiful, the special effects are also very beautiful. It’s magnificent,” she said.

The world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company, Shen Yun takes the audience on a journey of discovery through 5,000 years of China’s true traditional culture.

“I already knew a lot about Chinese culture, and let’s say that this somewhat confirms what I knew. It also improves my knowledge,” said Mr. Déry.
