A “Friends” cast reunion is finally happening, but there’s a twist that may disappoint fans.
The cast will indeed reunite during a two-hour special that’s slated for Sunday, Feb. 21, NBC announced at the Television Critics Association’s press tour in Pasadena on Wednesday.
The special will not be entirely about Friends—instead, it’s devoted to comedy director James Burrows, who also helmed series such as “Taxi” and “Cheers.”
The special comes as Burrows recently shot his 1,000th television episode, reported Entertainment Weekly.
The “Friends” reunion will be a portion of the special, but the good news is that Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer are all on board.
But the disappointing twist is that producers still aren’t sure if they can get all of the original cast members in the room at the same time.
“I’m hoping all six will be in same room at same time, I’m not sure we can logistically can pull it off,” NBC chief Robert Greenblatt told reporters.
There’s been plenty of reunion rumors over the past few years, but this is the first time all six are committed. Now, if only their schedules will align, “Friends” fans will have a big treat coming up.
