Taxpayers who wish to pay in cash (without needing a bank account or credit card) can now do so at over 7,000 nationwide 7-Eleven stores.
The just IRS launched the new payment option for taxpayers on Thursday.
In a written statement, the IRS Commissioner John Koskinen said:
“Taxpayers have many options to pay their tax bills by direct debit, a check, or a credit card, but this provides a new way for people who can only pay their taxes in cash without having to travel to an IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center.”
The statement also provides instructions for taxpayers wishing to use the service, which is aimed at making the payment process more convenient, having accepting stores across 34 states—most of which are open 24/7.
Partnering with ACI Worldwide’s OfficialPayments.com and the PayNearMe Company, taxpayers will fill out a ‘cash option’ form from the IRS.gov payments page.
