The Board of Directors of The Epoch Times is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Samuel Shiyu Zhou as Chief Executive Officer, effective July 23, 2025.
Dr. Zhou brings over two decades of leadership experience in nonprofit and media organizations, and has been serving The Epoch Times as Executive Vice President since July 2024. A longtime advocate for press freedom, Dr. Zhou played a pivotal role in launching the first open satellite broadcast channel to deliver independent, uncensored Chinese-language news and programming into China. He also served as Deputy Director of the Global Internet Freedom Consortium, a pioneering initiative that has provided uncensored internet access to millions of users in China and other repressive regimes around the world.
Prior to entering the media industry, Dr. Zhou conducted research at the Mathematical Research Center of Bell Labs and served on the faculty of the Department of Computer and Information Science at the University of Pennsylvania.
The Board extends its gratitude to Ms. Janice Trey for her dedicated service as interim CEO. She will continue to serve as Chair of the Board.
