The upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront 3 will not be fully linked with the Star Wars: Episode VII, and has been hyped as the best Star Wars Game yet.

At an analyst conference call after the release of EA’s quarterly financial results, EA executive vice president Patrick Soderlund noted that Battlefront 3 will not be tied to the new Star Wars movie.

“What we’re building is more rooted in the traditional Star Wars universe and not so much necessarily linked to the movies being made,” said Soderlund

“And that’s just because we wanted to make a game that celebrated the history of Star Wars.

“Obviously there will be things in there that are somewhat tied to the new movie. I wouldn’t say that we have a particular tie to the movie. Now, obviously we would prefer to be close to the movie, but I wouldn’t say that we’re directly tied to it.”

Also, EA Digital Illusions Creative Entertainment (DICE) general manager Karl-Magnus Troedsson told MCV that the studio is going to give their best shot for Battlefield 3 is because “Star Wars has a very special place in [their] hearts.”

“So when the chance to work on this game came up, we grabbed it.

“But that comes with a different kind of dependency that we haven’t had for a long time as we’re working with someone else’s IP.

“But LucasFilm has been absolutely spectacular. Everyone is approaching this with the same idea – that we are going to create the best Star Wars game ever.”

Star Wars: Battlefront 3 is slated for a summer 2015 release on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
