Topics covered in this episode:
  • On Wednesday night, House Republicans were supposed to agree to a Senate amendment to a budget resolution. That’s a key early step toward budget reconciliation, which would allow the Senate to pass a budget with fewer than 60 votes. They were supposed to pass a blueprint for President Donald Trump’s “big, beautiful bill,” something he sees as critical to advancing his agenda on the border, tax cuts, and more.
  • Meanwhile, the Supreme Court ordered the Trump administration to facilitate the return of a Salvadoran man who was mistakenly deported to El Salvador. The government says the deportation of Kilmar Abrego-Garcia, who resided in Maryland, was an “administrative error.” The administration also alleges that the man is part of the gang MS-13.
  • A group of 77 lawmakers sent a letter to Trump on Wednesday, demanding that Musk leave his role in the administration by May 30. However, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt responded on Wednesday, saying Musk will depart from his role when “his incredible work at DOGE is complete.”
