MONTREAL—Shen Yun Performing Arts graced the stage at Place des Arts on Jan. 4, the first of five sold out performances.
At the core of a Shen Yun performance is classical Chinese dance, an art form that has drawn from thousands of years of different eras and dynasties, as well as ethnic and folk dance, which highlights the diverse population (55 ethnic minorities) within China.
Figure skating trainer Sabrina Preti said she was moved by Thursday’s performance.
“I find they tell a story,” she said, describing her connection with classical Chinese dance. “ It’s meaningful; you feel the most emotions.”
Preti said the performance made her happy and the fluid movements of the dancers was beautiful to see.
She will introduce the performance to her friends and family.
“They have to go see it,” she said, “because the costumes, the dances are really nice; the choreography, it’s really something to see.”
