Service on the C subway line was temporarily suspended due to an underground utility room fire between the Chambers Street and Fulton Street stops, according to a spokesperson at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority

People left the Fulton Street terminal choking amid clouds of smoke at about 3:45 p.m.

The Fire Department was on the scene by 4 p.m.

The MTA temporarily suspended the C subway line. The A train is temporarily running on the F line.
