MONTREAL—Musician Henriette Dufeu and her husband, Daniel, responded deeply to Shen Yun Performing Arts when they saw the premier classical Chinese dance production’s Montreal finale at Place des Arts on Sunday afternoon.
“It’s great, it’s wonderful, and I like the performance. It’s amazing and it’s a spiritual show, so it touched me very deep and very amazing. Very profound,” said Mrs. Dufeu, who was a music teacher before retiring to focus on piano and classical guitar as a musician.
She explained more about how the show made her feel.
“It’s the beauty, and when I see the dancer, what I feel inside with the beauty, I feel love, I feel the great spiritual love when I saw the person dancing,” she said.
She noted, “It’s a show that elevates the soul.”
The soul of the performance lingered in her heart, Mrs. Dufeu said, and she said that she felt more loving, more compassionate.
“That’s something you keep inside of you very deep, and when you go on, it’s something that you keep inside of you for a few months.”
She said she will return to see the show again next year.
Mr. Dufeu said he especially enjoyed one of the performance pieces that showcased a joyful and energetic Tibetan dance in which the dancers offered the khata, a traditional scarf, to the heavens as a sign of reverence.
He had stayed with some Tibetans for a time while in India, and felt a particular connection with the Tibetan people, he said.
Mr. Dufeu, owner of Dufeu Bakery, which is renowned for its organic bread shipped to health food stores throughout Quebec, said he liked the spectacle of the entire performance “very much.”
