The release date for Mortal Kombat X has been announced.
NetherRealm Studios is scheduled to launch the game on April 14, 2015 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
Those who pre-order the game will be able to unlock Goro at the launch. The iconic four-armed Shokan warrior was the sub boss of the original Mortal Kombat game, and has made appearances in a number of sequels in the franchise.
Goro will eventually be available to play for those who didn’t pre-order the game, although it is currently unclear how and when access to him will be given.
Thus far, nine different characters are confirmed in the roster. They are Cassie Cage (daughter of Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade), D'Vorah, Ferra & Torr (treated as one playable character in-game), Kano, Kotal Kahn, Raiden, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Goro.
Each character will come in three different variations, each with a unique fighting style.
For instance, Kano, an original MK character, comes in Cybernatic Kano (eye laser and grenade attacks), Commando Kano (enhanced grappling skills for close-range combat), and Cutthroat Kano (better knife fighting skills). Each of these variants will be visually different as well.
Another new feature in Mortal Kombat X is interactive levels, where players can grab objects from their environments and use them as weapons.
