The Los Angeles Lakers worked out Michael Beasley and seven others in the past week.

According to USA Today, Dexter Pittman, Greg Stiemsma, and Daniel Orton were worked out by Los Angeles, as well as guards Bobby Brown, Toney Douglas, Ben Hansbrough and Malcolm Lee.

Beasley was seen working out for the Lakers for the second time during this offseason. A source close to the team, who chose to remain anonymous, told USA Today the development a few days ago.

As of now, the Lakers have 13 players with two roster spots to spare. Beasley played for the Heat last season.

As of right now, Xavier Henry and Wesley Johnson are the two small forwards on the Lakers’ roster.

The news comes as Sports Illustrated did a report about Kobe Bryant and what he’s doing to prepare for the next season.

“It’s the highest that I’ve ever seen. He channels his focus so well in terms of just the task at hand. But also when he’s had pain, he can block that out,” Los Angeles Lakers physical therapist Dr. Judy Seto was quoted as saying in the article.

He added: “I think he was playing I want to say Cleveland, maybe Miami. But it was during the first quarter. He dislocated his finger. It’s basically like, this bone was over here. The head trainer, during a timeout, he relocated it, had him go back in.”

“I think that trait makes him who he is, and his ability to focus also allows him to channel his energies. It’s not that he doesn’t feel pain; it’s how he responds. Everybody responds to pain a little differently. There’s some people that if you have an injury, you perseverate on it, an injury here can manifest to an injury over here or somewhere else in your body. It can be extremely debilitating. That’s the other stream.”

Meanwhile, the Rockets have apparently acquired Jason Terry, the 36-year-old guard who won a championship with the Dallas Mavericks a few years ago. There’s been talk that Terry will serve as a “replacement” for Jeremy Lin, who now plays for the Lakers.

“Rockets have reached an agreement in principle to acquire Sacramento Kings guard Jason Terry, league sources told Yahoo Sports,” Yahoo Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski said, via Bleacher Report.

“The Rockets will send a package centered on non-guaranteed contracts, including Alonzo Gee, that the Kings can ultimately waive and gain salary savings and roster space, league sources said,” he added. “Sacramento will send Houston two second-round picks in the deal, including one via the Knicks, league sources told Yahoo.”
