Kate Middleton’s medical team has been revealed as her second pregnancy progresses.
Guy Thorpe-Beeston and Alan Farthing, surgeon general to the Portland Hospital and the surgeon general to the queen, respectively, are leading the team in charge of Kate and the baby’s wellbeing.
Beeston is an expert in high-risk pregnancies, and was present for the birth of Middleton’s first child, Prince George, last year. He specializes in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Fetal Medicine and Recurrent Miscarriage, according to the hospital’s website. He has also worked at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and on Harley Street.
He has said in the past that he likes to “keep things simple” by offering “honest advice,” according to the Daily Mail.
Farthing was Sir Marcus Setchell’s assistant when Setchell oversaw George’s birth. Setchell will not be involved with the second birth.
The baby will likely be born in the Lindo wing of St. Mary’s Hospital, like George.
Meanwhile, Kate and William are planning to hire a full-time nanny for baby No. 2, after breaking with royal tradition for Prince George.
“It was really hard work with George and there were lots of sleepless nights,” a source close to the couple told the Daily Mail.
“So Kate has said she’s going to have help with the next one.”
George was mostly taken care of by family members and part-time help.
When Kate recovers from severe morning sickness the couple plans to move to their new home at Amner Hall in Norfolk, where they want to settle in. The couple stayed at the Middleton family home in Bucklebury for Prince George’s early months.
“There is a nanny annex and a guest suite with plenty of space for Kate’s family,” a friend of the couple said.
“Kate and William plan to go to their own family home after the birth.”
