Kansas City is bracing itself for its second winter storm in one week. A winter storm warning is in effect for the city.
Josh Kellerman, lieutenant with the Kansas Highway Patrol said at 10:50 a.m. local time on Feb. 26 that it is still pretty windy—especially in the southern region.
Kellerman patrolled the roads during the blizzard.
He said that the streets are very quiet.
Kellerman thinks that people heeded the weather predictions this time around after seeing the previous storm predications come true. The snowstorm on Feb. 20–21 brought 1–2 feet of snow.
The general reaction was, “Wow, we really did get that much snow,” according to Kellerman.
“Some people just kind of took it to heart,” he said. “They just stayed home.”
Kellerman said that the roads are snow packed. As snow plows clear the road, the winds from the blizzard blow all the snow back onto the roads within an hour, and this has been a problem.
The blizzard is moving toward the northeast United States, where the storm will bring rain and wind to the coast. Everything from heavy snow to a wintry mix of rain will fall inland and farther during mid-week, according to AccuWeather.
