Apple will likely unveil its next generation iPad in the middle of this month.

According to Re/code’s John Paczkowski, Apple is planning a Thursday, October 16 launch event, and will show off the next big thing in its iPad, iMac, and OS X products.

Apple should be showing off the iPad Air 2 at the company’s Town Hall Auditorium in Cupertino, but the next generation iPad Mini and a large screen iPad are likely to be announced next year.

The iPad Air 2 is expected to come with an A8 processor, Touch ID, and come in iPhone 6 colors (Space Gray, Silver, Gold).

As for the iMac line, Apple should be refreshing the 21.5-inch model and the 27-inch model with new Intel Broadwell processors and AMD graphic cards. The latest iMac line uses NVIDIA cards.

The 27-inch iMac could get a 5K (5120 x 2880) resolution display, but the smaller model will keep the 1920 x 1080 resolution screen.

Operating system wise, Apple should finally be rolling out public version of OS X Yosemite. The developer beta is already in “Golden Master,” which means its almost ready to be shipped.

OS X Yosemite will being a flatter desktop, an improved Notifications Center, Spotlight, Safari, and Mail.

In other to facilitate seamless integration between iOS and OS X devices, OS X Yosemite will introduce the Continuity feature, which allows users to say start typing an email on the iPhone, before continuing it on a Macbook via the “Handoff” Continuity feature.

iPhone users can also start phone calls and carry on the conversation on a nearby Mac PC.

BGR notes that Paczkowski has been spot on so far with information concerning Apple events this year, so the October 16 event looks very likely to be a thing.
