Just hours after having his gun listing removed from auction website GunBroker.com on May 12, George Zimmerman re-listed it on a different site, UnitedGunGroup.com (UGG)
Using the same description as in the first auction, Zimmerman’s new listing was posted to UGG at 12:47 p.m. on May 12. If it stays up, it closes in 4 days, 18 hours. The starting price was $5,000.
UGG released a statement defending the sale, saying, “United Gun Group’s stance is that as long as Mr. Zimmerman (or any other UGG member) is obeying the letter of the law, his personal firearm sale will be permitted on our network.”
The gun is purportedly the weapon that Zimmerman used to fatally shoot Trayvon Martin, the unarmed 17-year-old in a gated community in Sanford, Fla., in 2012.
Gun Broker, however, after removing the initial listing, released a brief statement saying, “We want no part in the listing on our web site or in any of the publicity it is receiving.”
